The native checkout removes VAT only cross-border. We also exempt qualifying domestic B2B customers (tax-exclusive stores) — and only after a live VIES check confirms the number, saved as an auditor-ready trail so you're covered under EU reverse-charge rules. Beyond a lookup: enrich each customer with legal name, registry status and industry, and auto-segment into b2b-verified and b2b-review, routing risky accounts to a human. Verified data lands in metafields — invoice/PEPPOL-ready.
